The Government has decided to distribute the stocks of imported rice to private supermarket chains as well, Minister of Trade and Samurdhi Development Shehan Semasignhe said.

 The decision to provide imported rice stocks which were only available through Sathosa outlets has been taken after discussing with relevant authorities.

Accordingly, 1 kilogram of Nadu Rice will be sold at an MRP of Rs. 145 and a Kilogram of Samba rice will be priced at Rs. 175.

The imported rice will be sold with a maximum quantity of 5kg per customer.
