The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has opened up a portal for the donation of medicines and consumables in the wake of a healthcare crisis amidst the country’s economic woes.

In a statement, the GMOA said due to poor financial and economic management, the Sri Lankan healthcare sector is on the verge of a severe crisis in saving the lives of patients caused by severe drug and equipment shortages.

The GMOA added that it is ready to ensure transparent coordination and direction of the donations of medicines and equipment to hospitals for the patient care within the quality assurance mechanism for drugs and equipment of the Ministry of Health.
